In Brief: Little Stones (2017) Greenwich International Film Festival 2017

LITTLE STONES is a portrait of four women trying to make a difference in the world.

Panmela is a street artist who speaks out on domestic violence and women's issues.
Sister Fa is a rapper who uses her music to teach women and to stop abuse like genital mutilation.
Anna is teaching women how to become seamstresses and has founded a clothing line to fund it.
Sohini is helping victims of sex trafficking heal through dance.

Moving and hopeful documentary about women trying to make a difference as best they can. This is a film that very clearly shows that women can make a difference in ways that may not have seemed obvious to many people. What I like is that the women are not trying to make things instantly better but are willing to work to make change. As Anna says, "I'm not trying to change the world just help as many people as I can".

If the film is occasionally slick it is perfectly forgivable since the trade off is it reveals that there are good people trying to make a difference.

Recommended.

LITTLE STONES plays Friday June 2 and Sunday June 4 at the Greenwich International FIlm Festival. For more information and tickets go here.
